ABOUT US

The Stewart/Bygate family has had a long association with Leadburn dating back to my grandparent’s era and for us to be able to share our favourite place over many years is a joy. We have lived here it seems almost forever. Our younger family return to visit often.

Hazel, teacher and retired equestrian, leads hospitality while Jim retired project manager enjoys keeping the site and hot tub maintained and welcoming.

We wanted to provide an opportunity for visitors to stay and enjoy Leadburn as we do. It is such a small community with few places to stay, we could only do this in our fields where family horses were previously.

We have enjoyed Leadburn as a family, with friends and animals but as our children grew up and on retiring from riding and teaching, (my other life), I persuaded my husband that this would be a fun project and would share our love of Leadburn with others providing, outdoor space and glamping with style and comfort, near local activities, major attractions and sport.

So we began…

Live Leadburn- The Pod

The Pentland Pod is in a pretty spot in the very small community of Leadburn in Midlothian on the edge of the Scottish Borders. Beautifully set up for 2 people however a double sofa bed in the living area should prove practical for additional children. There is a dining area, sitting area in front of the Smart TV and modern kitchen which is surprisingly well equipped for the type of property and even includes a dishwasher and Nespresso coffee machine. A comfy double bed fits perfectly into this open plan space and the shower room has a double shower cubicle. On the chilly evenings you’ll be cosy toasty with the underfloor heating.

The Pod is set in an acre field with wooded surrounds. It has privacy and views though the trees. The location offers great access to Edinburgh and Peebles so consequently there is some traffic noise at peak times. Please be aware of this if you prefer absolute quiet but with ‘bubbles on’ you are in your bubble. It has truly made little difference to us in our ‘Bagend Bubble’.

All Bed Linen and Towels for Pod and Towels/ Robes for the Hot tub, Snowdrop Candle Company Soap, shower essentials and hairdryer, Nespresso Coffee and some coffee pods, Hot Tub and BBQ essentials are provided with starter pack of a selection of local produce, salt, pepper, sugar, milk, tea, coffee, biscuits.

We want you to have an enjoyable glamping stay which will refresh and relax you with facilities which will make your stay full of simple pleasures and memorable moments in secluded but most convenient surroundings.

We offer a fully equipped mega pod, with dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine with cooking and dining essentials, linen and accessories and safe parking, The Hot tub, BBQ and Decking will suit those who wish a secluded relaxing experience or just want a base to seek out active exploring and sport, or the nearby tourist experiences and attractions, including Edinburgh.

The elevated decking area at the entrance is the perfect place to enjoy the surroundings and to the side the gas barbecue and wood fired hot tub are fantastic additions to your experience. The hot tub is the perfect place to relax and star gaze, with massage jets and plenty of bubbles! We offer the whole field to give you seclusion and privacy, perfect for couples wanting a romantic secluded break away together.

We have a range of wildlife and farm life around us with an interesting range of birds who enjoy our trees and hedges, nearby  at Milkhall Road pond (a Site of scientific interest there are swans nesting in this protected area. In winter weather bring wellies or boots as grass does get wet at time.

We want people to choose to stay because they know everything has been thought through for their enjoyment without surprises, other than pleasant ones, with planned organisation taking account of Covid19 and health and safety. Any feedback will help us continue to develop our skills.
